CircleUp Wantage Update – August
Hi everyone,
We hope you are having a good summer so far!
It was great to see a few of you at the visit to the Energy Recovery Facility in July. In case you missed it, check out our blog post about the visits here:
What happens to my waste? A visit to the ERF
We are sending our August update a few days early as we will be out visiting you all across August!
Book your next house visit - final reminder
If you still have not, please book in your next house visit with one of the material efficiency advisors (MEAs)! The visits will mainly be available from mid-August into early September, but if you are away or not available on these dates please do let us know so we can work out another option.
Please book this as soon as you can as visits will commence from the first week of August!
You can book your visit here with the Microsoft form:
Visits will last a maximum 1.5 hours this time, and will include an individual interview element with each participant. We will also be sharing a survey with you ahead of the visit to complete in your own time.
It’s up to you if you’d like to try and book with the same MEA, or someone different, you will have the option to choose this on the booking form, depending on our availability, but we might have to rearrange who is coming to the visit depending on people schedules too.
CircleUp App
We have loved seeing your stories on the CircleUp app so far! Perhaps you have tried a new summer recipe to save food waste, or maybe learnt a new sewing skill? We would love to keep seeing your successes and, so please keep posting any circular stories you have, however big or small!
Speaking of learning new sewing skills, there is still time to sign up to our mending workshops at the Makery in August and September
- How to use a sewing machine - Tuesday 18 August 7-9pm
- How to fix that hole in your favourite jeans - Tuesday 8 September 7-9pm
Please complete this form if you’d like to sign up, friends, family and colleagues all welcome too! Sign up for CircleUp events in June, July & August – Fill in form
Summer recipes
We know there are a number of people in the CircleUp community growing their own fruit and vegetables over the summer. Amiee recently swapped her allotment grown courgettes with an old colleague and came home with a whole punnet of figs! Is there anyone you can do a swap like this with and try some new recipes? Perhaps not but you are still wondering what to do with all those courgettes...
Jess & Amiee have some recipe ideas here, to help make sure there are no delicious courgettes going to waste!
Chocolate courgette brownies (The recipe references zucchini rather than courgette, which is a nod to Jess’s New Zealand days!)
Lemon, pistachio & courgette cake
Summer holiday sorting
Maybe you have some time this summer holiday to have a bit of a clear out at home. We have discovered some cool new ways to make sure nothing goes to waste and your unwanted items can go to a new home:

Coming up
We are looking forward to seeing you all for visit 2 during August and September and will be in touch over the next few weeks with a link to the survey to complete ahead of the visit. As always, please let us know with any questions at all.
Best wishes,
Amiee, Jess & Rachel
