CCRI
CircleUp is proud to be a CCRI project. CCRI refers to the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative.

Overview
The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) is a European Commission programme launched under the 2020 Circular Economy Action Plan to accelerate the transition to a circular economy at local and regional levels across Europe. It supports cities, regions, and territorial clusters in implementing Circular Systemic Solutions (CSS)—holistic approaches that integrate circular principles into local economies, services, and governance structures.
By empowering local and regional authorities, industry representatives, research organisations, and civil society, the CCRI aims to drive systemic change towards sustainability, contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal and the EU Bioeconomy Strategy.
CCRI have a vast network
CCRI Projects are research and innovation initiatives funded by Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe that develop new knowledge, build skills, and demonstrate systemic circular solutions.
The CCRI Pilots are European cities and regions identified as having strong potential to advance circularity. They receive dedicated support from circular economy experts to help implement their Circular Systemic Solutions.
The CCRI’s Associated Partners include initiatives led or supported by the European Commission, other EU institutions, and a range of organisations, foundations, and institutions delivering relevant projects and services.
The CCRI Fellows are European cities, regions, and territorial clusters at various stages of their circular economy transition. Committed to deepening and sharing their expertise, they actively participate in tailored capacity-building and peer-learning activities such as thematic working groups and webinars.
Thematic Working Groups discuss and exchange practical solutions to implement Circular Systemic Solutions (CSS) in European cities and regions.
